DAVIDSON, N.C. – In a strategic move that reinforces its long-standing partnership with the U.S. Navy, Curtiss-Wright Corporation has announced the acquisition of contracts exceeding $130 million.
These contracts are for the provision of advanced technological components for key naval vessels, namely the Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarine, Columbia-class submarine, and Ford-class aircraft carrier.
The significant contracts, awarded by Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI), are set to support not only ship construction but also the procurement of spare parts and submarine back-fits.
These contracts represent a continuation of Curtiss-Wright’s enduring support for the U.S. Navy’s critical defense platforms, which consistently enjoy robust Congressional backing.
Lynn M. Bamford, Chair and CEO of Curtiss-Wright Corporation, conveyed the company’s enthusiasm: “Curtiss-Wright is pleased to have been awarded these important naval defense contracts, building upon our long-standing relationship with the U.S. Nuclear Navy.”
She further added, “We look forward to delivering the most advanced, reliable and vital technologies and remain well-positioned to benefit from the continued expansion of our U.S. naval fleet.”
The company will perform the contract tasks at its facilities located in New York and Pennsylvania, operating within the Defense Electronics and Naval & Power Segments.
The engineering and manufacturing efforts have already commenced and are expected to progress through 2029.
For over six decades, Curtiss-Wright has played a pivotal role in ensuring safe and reliable operations across the U.S. Navy’s nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers by supplying cutting-edge, high-performance products.
The company’s innovative technologies, such as power-dense motors and enhanced valve designs, aim to boost operational efficiency, curtail manpower and costs, and elevate safety standards.
Curtiss-Wright, building on the prestigious legacy of aviation pioneers Glenn Curtiss and the Wright brothers, stands as a global entity that delivers highly engineered products, solutions, and services.
The corporation caters chiefly to the Aerospace & Defense markets, along with significant offerings in the Commercial Power, Process, and Industrial markets.
While these contracts promise to bolster Curtiss-Wright’s role in the U.S. Navy’s ongoing fleet augmentation, they also come with the usual caveats of forward-looking statements.
These include potential risks and uncertainties such as order reductions, economic downturns, changes in the marketplace, alterations in government spending, and the company’s ability to perform contracts as anticipated.
This strategic engagement underlines the continual growth and modernization of the U.S. naval fleet, positioning Curtiss-Wright as a crucial partner in the endeavor to maintain and enhance the nation’s maritime defense capabilities.
