The concept of undersea stealth has been redefined with the development of the Kronos, a prototype stealth submarine, by UAE-based Highland Systems.
According to the engineers at Highland Systems, the submarine can perform a full 180-degree turn at maximum speed.
This maneuverability, coupled with the ability to reach speeds of 50mph on water and 31mph submerged.
They also say the vehicle ‘can neutralize all surface and underwater threats and in general, defend itself from hostile aggressors’ and launch torpedo attacks.
Provides tactical advantages in covert operations and the element of surprise in combat scenarios.
A notable aspect of the submarine is its James Bond-like features, which include fold-up wings, an underwater drone, and a quadcopter for reconnaissance missions.
The pilot navigates the sub using interior digital screens, but it can also be operated remotely as a stealth drone.
As a platform, the Kronos is also designed to transport a pilot and ten special forces troops.
With a maximum air supply of 36 hours and a maximum dive depth of 820 feet, it is enhancing its utility for special operations.
After a year of sea trials, the submarine is undergoing modernization and upgrades.
Including the installation of a more powerful and quieter engine and electric batteries.
While a timeframe for deployment within the Ukrainian naval forces remains unconfirmed, the spokesperson for Highland Systems has indicated the readiness of other countries to place orders for the Kronos.
As the conflict continues, Russia has been facing its own political dynamics.
After Vladimir Putin asked the lower house of Russia’s parliament to approve his re-election as the country’s prime minister, Russia’s spotlight turned to Mikhail Mishustin.
Mishustin’s rise in Russia’s inner circle and his potential as Putin’s successor are both worthy of attention.
